After a jam-packed day at Disneyland and an awesome night out on the bowling alleys of Anaheim, we were surprisingly bright-eyed and bushy tailed, ready to seize the day in Southern California.

Our first stop of the day was Newport Beach, Orange County... via Starbucks of course!

Oh my! I don't think I have ever seen waters so blue and so crystal clear. The beachfront was perfectly adorned with palm trees, the autumn sun was shining like a summer's day in Sydney and there was not a single cloud in sight. Photos can't even do this place justice.

After exploring the beach and the pier, we drove around to explore the harbour and "The Wedge" a spot famed by local surfers. Next stop was Joe's Crab Shack for lunch.

With full bellies, we were L.A. bound with the windows down jamming to our favourite songs as we drove through an endless span of palm trees. After getting lost in the back streets of Hollywood, we reached our destination - The Grove, the outdoor shopping centre of the stars. Although we didn't spot any celebrities, we definitely managed to bag some bargains. The mall kind of reminded me of Main Street Disneyland and they really do the whole Christmas decorating thing well!

Our plan was to catch the sunset from the Griffith Observatory, but to our surprise, cars were queued for miles to reach the observatory known for its killer views of Los Angeles. Apparently they had some kind of telescope event on so we parked at the bottom of the hill and walked up to catch the last orange tinge of the sun as it set over the city. As the sky faded into darkness, we watched the The City of Angels sparkle below us. We played a game of "see how many people you can tap on the shoulder without getting caught". I'm pretty sure I lost that game after a couple of awkward confrontations..... "Sorry! I thought you were someone else!".

We then started the journey back up to the Central Coast via the Cheesecake Factory for my last dinner with the Cali crew before I fly out tomorrow. Oh, and we also made the very necessary stop at In-N-Out so I could try my first ever root beer float.
