Welcome to my documentation of  places I'm wandering & things I'm pondering.

Lentil as Anything

Lentil as Anything

Don't get me wrong, I love my veggies, but when Siena suggested trekking it out to Newtown to eat VEGETARIAN food, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect!

Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised....

It's already a household name in Melbourne, but King Street's recent addition 'Lentil as Anything' is shocking us Sydney-siders with its fresh flavours, vibrant atmosphere and mind-blowing 'pay as you feel' philosophy.

The menu is a fusion of global flavours and predominantly vegan - providing nourishing meals that cater to a wide range of medical, personal and belief-based dietary requirements. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which relies on donations and volunteers, to provide an eating experience that transcends religious, cultural and socio-economic boundaries. But believe me, it is far from your average soup kitchen!

The assortment of vintage chairs seats an eclectic bunch of individuals from the businessmen on their lunch break to the bearded hipsters. Oh, and of course the clumsy uniform-clad school girls who somehow kept missing their mouths (that's us....oops!).

We sipped on chai tea (the real deal - not the sugary powdery stuff) as the smiley waitress took our order. The mixture of exotic spices was only preparing us for what was to come as our eyes caught sight of the lentil curry that was placed on the table next to us. "Yep, we will both have that please!"

You should have seen our faces light up as the colourful mountains of drool-inducing goodness were placed before our eyes. If you can't tell by the pictures, they aren't stingy with their portion sizes! This curry has totally changed my opinion on vegetarian food - it was delicious! Needless to say, we both demolished every last scrap of food on our plate.

As every true foodie knows, no matter how "full" you may be, at the mention of the word "dessert", your stomach automatically rearranges its contents to allow you to squeeze it in. Luckily enough too, because otherwise we would have missed out on the vegan chocolate cake!

Our experience at 'Lentil as Anything' was amazing and we would seriously recommend that you guys check it out for yourselves! We will definitely be volunteering there sometime in the near future! If you want to get involved too, check out this link http://lentilasanything.com/get-involved/.
